"How do I shift the photo so the title isn't covering the walkway?" "Why is my hero cropped wrong on my phone?" "Which photo shows at the top?" — these are all about the photo layer of the hero, and they're all solved on the Hero tab.
Where: Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Hero.
Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Hero → Hero photos card ("Collage photos" on Collage; "Hero photos" on Carousel/Full bleed) → Add photos / click a tile to swap
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Swipe | Slides horizontally between hero slides (Carousel only). |
| Cross-fade | Dissolves between hero slides (Carousel only; the default, reads more premium with video). |
The Hero photos card only decides the top of the page. Your full gallery — reorder, delete, tag by room, per-photo details — lives under Space → Photos & Spaces. If you don't hand-pick any hero photos, the hero uses your gallery order, which means the first gallery photo (the Cover slot) is your hero and photos 2–8 feed the story cards and parallax strips:
Where (property site): Property editor → Space tab (left sidebar) → Photos & Spaces → drag to reorder; each tile shows its slot badge
Rule of thumb: to change the top of the page, hand-pick on the Hero tab; to change photos further down the page, reorder under Space → Photos & Spaces.
A later PMS sync follows the same rule. New photos from Hospitable, Guesty, Lodgify, Hostfully, OwnerRez, Track, or Airbnb move into listing order in the gallery. They do not replace your current cover — or a hero you already picked — unless you click Use listing order or add slides on this Hero tab.
When Haven imports a listing it animates one photo for you — the one in the first story card — and puts the short clip in that slot so you can see the effect on your own rooms. Your cover photo is never animated, and the photo the clip replaced stays in your gallery at the end, so nothing is lost.
Two is deliberate: it shows you what motion looks like on your listing and leaves the rest to you. To animate any other photo, click the Siri orb on its tile under Space → Photos & Spaces. To remove one of Haven's clips, click the Siri orb on the same tile and switch On your page to Original — the photo goes back and the clip is kept in Archived.
Clips take a few minutes longer than the rest of the import, so a listing you open right after importing will fill them in while you watch; you don't need to reload.
This puts a clip on your website hero. A video ad — a reel you post — is Marketing → Creative: photo scenes can stay stills or be converted to AI video, and you can add a voiceover. See Making Social Posts and Ads.
Carousel Swipe and Cross-fade only change how slides change. They do not make a still photo move.
To animate a hero photo, create a video version:
The clip takes that photo's place on its slide — the carousel does not gain a second slide — and the photo is kept, so you can revert to it any time (see below). You can also use the Create an AI version orb on the slides card — that path opens a photo picker first, then the same job list.
From the property gallery instead: Space → Photos & Spaces → Create → AI Videos, pick a photo, or click the Siri orb on a gallery tile. A gallery video does not automatically become a hero slide — use the Hero orb when the clip should play at the top of the page.
The Create an AI version orb stays visible whenever the Hero slides card is open — even with no custom slides, only listing photos, or a list of videos. Every photo slide also has its own orb, always, so you can make another version at any time. Tap an orb (or the banner orb, then pick a photo) and choose a job. When it is ready, the new version takes that photo's place on its slide — you never end up with the still and its video as two slides — and the photo it replaced is kept with the slide. While the job runs, the slide keeps showing your photo and its row reads Creating…. Only a photo picked from the banner orb that is not in the carousel yet is added as a new slide. Video and mosaic rows have no orb.
The orb on the hero in your page's live preview (Layout tab) does the same thing to the photo on screen at that moment, and the preview refreshes on its own when the job finishes. On a property site, the photo a slide's AI version replaced is also filed in Photos & Spaces → Archived; on a collection it is kept on the slide and in your Media Library. When the hero follows your gallery order, the orb replaces that gallery photo and moves the original to Archived, exactly like the orb on a gallery tile.
When the hero follows your gallery order there are no slide rows: the Hero card shows a strip of the first few gallery photos instead. Any of them that is an AI video or AI photo carries a Revert to original button (↺) in its corner, which puts the original photo back in that gallery spot (an AI video moves to Archived). On that photo's tile in Photos & Spaces, the same undo is inside the tile's Siri orb (On your page → Original).
Every slide holding an AI version carries a badge on its row (and on its collage tile, always visible): Review video, Review enhance and so on until you have looked at a new result, then a standing AI video / AI enhanced / AI twilight / AI wider / AI sharper badge for as long as the AI version is live. Click the badge to open the compare view: switch between Original, the AI version, and Side by side (photos), see which one is on your page now, and click Revert to original to put your photo back on the slide. Looks good marks a new result reviewed. A finished result also opens this view on its own, so it never swaps in unnoticed. Each slide — photo or video — also has an Open preview control that opens the same view.
AI versions (under the slide list on a property, above Transition on a collection) opens when a version is creating or waiting for review. Those rows are the slides in the list above — tap one to compare or revert. It also keeps AI versions that are no longer in the carousel, each with Add back.
Besides the badge, any slide showing an AI photo or video has a one-click Revert to original button (↺) on its row and on its collage tile, where the orb sits on a plain photo (next to the orb on an AI photo). After a revert, the row shows an Original | AI switch and the compare view offers Use the AI video (or AI version), so you can bring it back. Both versions are kept, so switching is free and nothing is regenerated or deleted. Removing an AI slide from the carousel keeps its AI media under AI versions, where you can add it back — and so does making a new version on a slide that was still holding an earlier one. If a job fails, the slide keeps your photo and Haven tells you; click the orb to try again. A custom page's tab hero has the Original | AI switch on its hero row.
Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Hero → Siri orb on any hero carousel photo (or Create an AI version orb → pick a photo) → choose a job; the new version takes that photo’s place on its slide — click the slide’s AI badge (or Open preview) to compare or Revert to original Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Hero → Slides card → Siri orb on any hero carousel photo (or Create an AI version orb → pick a photo) → choose a job; the new version takes that photo’s place on its slide — click the slide’s AI badge (or Open preview) to compare or Revert to original
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Create enhanced version | Brighter and more vibrant. Takes the photo’s place on its slide; the original is kept. |
| Create sharper version | Extra pixels so the hero stays crisp full-bleed. |
| Create twilight version | Classic dusk light. Takes the photo’s place on its slide; the original is kept. |
| Create wider version | Extra sky and sides so a narrow photo fills the hero. |
| Create video version | A short cinematic clip that replaces the photo on its slide; the photo is kept so you can revert. |
On a collection, adding a version while Listing photos is selected switches the hero to My own slides — the same explicit switch as Upload. Collection sites have no listing-gallery upscale or video jobs; hero AI stays on these slides.
Every hero photo is cropped to fit the screen — wide on desktop, tall on a phone. The focal point tells Haven which part of the photo must stay in view when it crops, and it's also how you shift the photo under the headline and booking bar.
Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Hero → Hero photos → hover a slide → "Adjust focal point" (crosshair icon) → drag to reframe, use the zoom slider Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Hero → Hover a slide → "Adjust focal point" → drag to reframe Range: Drag anywhere in the frame; zoom 1×–3×.
Both change where the words sit relative to the photo, from opposite sides:
| I want… | Do this |
|---|---|
| The words to stay where they are, but the photo to slide so a different part is under them | Adjust focal point on that slide (drag; zoom if needed). |
| The photo to stay where it is, but the words to move (lower, left, centered) | Text & style → Content placement — see Hero Text Placement & Medallions. |
| No words on the photo at all | Hero layout → Billboard (or Collage) — see Hero Layouts. |
| The words readable without moving anything | Text & style → Hero overlay — see Hero Overlay, Text & Badges. |
Worked example — "center the wording between the walkway": the title is on the walkway because the walkway runs through the middle of the crop. Open Adjust focal point on the cover slide and drag the photo so the walkway sits under the title's gap (or off to one side); zoom in a notch if it won't travel. If you'd rather keep the walkway centered and move the title instead, choose Content placement → Stacked (title low) or Editorial left. Either way, check the phone preview.
The same focal point (and zoom) is used everywhere that photo is cropped: full-bleed hero, collage tiles, carousel slides, mosaic panels, and — on collection sites — the collection hero and tab heroes. Set it once per photo.
