A collection (multi-unit) site has the same design system as a property site — hero, header, intro reveal, brand — plus a few controls of its own: how the hero is built from your properties, how the properties are arranged on the landing page, and a separate hero for every custom tab.
Open it from the Sites group in the host dashboard sidebar — this is the tab hosts often call group sites, and there is no "Manage" menu in between:
Where (property site): Sites → Listing sites → Edit listing Where (collection site): Sites → Group sites → Edit multi-unit site Applies when: Pick the sub-tab that matches the site: one listing is Listing sites, a site showing several listings together is Group sites.
The header says Multi-unit site editor (on a Haven partner's own site it says Partner site editor, with the partner's logo, name and brand colours under it), and there are three tabs under it:
| Tab | What lives there |
|---|---|
| Properties | Which listings appear on the site, plus neighborhoods and room types. |
| Settings | Search & URLs (custom domain / web address), Language, Share, Rental agreement, Guest verification, Discount codes, and Business Cards. |
| Layout | The site itself — every page, every word, and everything about how it looks. This is the tab you want for design and content. |
Reaching anything on the Layout tab is three clicks, and the third is the one people miss:
So the two things hosts ask for most often are:
A whole extra page (an About or Experiences page) is a site tab instead: Layout → + New tab. Custom tabs get their own right panel — Basics · Hero · Page Content.
Deleted a page by mistake? Deleting a tab shows an Undo in the confirmation toast; click it and the page comes back with its hero, every section, its sub-pages, and its place in the nav. For 30 days afterwards the page is also listed under Layout → + New tab → Recently deleted (at the bottom of the list), where Restore puts it back. You can ask the help assistant instead: "restore the page I deleted", or name it, "bring back Property management". See Restore a Deleted Page or Tab.
Not sure what is on a page, or where a section came from? Ask the assistant (the bar at the bottom of the host dashboard, or the help chat): "what is on my Get in Touch page", "where did this section on Home come from", "why do I have two Events pages", "what did the website import do". It reads your site — every page, the sections on it in the order visitors see them, and how each one got there (added in the editor, copied from your old website by an import on a date, or a starter section Haven created) — and a dated history of imports and of pages and sections added, edited or removed. It can also load a page exactly as a visitor sees it and tell you whether the live site matches the editor (or whether your old website is still answering at that address), list your forms with the addresses their submissions go to and the submissions received, and show what Haven's background work (imports, syncs, translations) did on your account and whether any of it failed. It answers from what it read and points you to the exact section to edit or remove.
There's also a search box above the tabs. Typing what you want ("site name", "custom domain", "story sections") jumps you straight to the right sheet and shows which tab it lives on, which is usually faster than hunting.
Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Page (the panel opens on Hero — click Page in its top tab strip) → Name / Tagline / Description Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Page (the panel opens on Hero — click Page in its top tab strip) → Multi-Unit Site Name / Tagline / Description
Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Sections (the panel opens on Hero — click Sections in its top tab strip) Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Page Content (the panel opens on Hero — click Page Content in its top tab strip) → add / reorder / open a section
Everything below is on Layout → Home, in the panel tab named at the start of each section.
Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → the right panel opens on Hero — use its top tab strip (Page · Brand · Hero · Sections · Contact) to switch Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → the right panel opens on Hero — use its top tab strip (Page · Brand · Footer · Hero · Page Content) to switch Applies when: The two editors do not share a sidebar, and their panel tabs are named differently (Sections on a property, Page Content on a collection) — follow the path for the editor you are actually in.
Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Hero → Slides card → Source: "Listing photos" or "My own slides"; add slides, drag to reorder, "Adjust focal point"; Transition pill (Swipe / Cross-fade) at the bottom of the card
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Listing photos | Rotate through your attached properties' photos and hero videos, in order. |
| My own slides | Show only the slides you add here. |
From properties adds slides from photos and videos you already have. On a collection site the list opens on the site itself, marked This site: its hero slides (an AI video slide and the photo it replaced are both there), page heroes, and the photos and clips in its sections. Your listings follow, one row each. The same list opens wherever the editor offers From properties or Change photo, so a clip made for the hero can go on a page or into a section. Ticker logos and social wall posts are not in it.
Each slide has its own Adjust focal point so the crop is right on desktop and mobile — the same control as on property sites. See Positioning Your Hero Photos. Video slides also have a gear for Video settings: start point, Allow audio (starts with sound; some browsers mute until a tap), and Loop (on by default for a single video, fading back to the start; turn it off to play once and settle on the last frame). In a carousel of videos or photos, Loop is unavailable — each clip plays through and then the next slide takes over. Video slides in a rotating hero play through before the transition — they are not cut at five seconds.
Page audio sits on this same Hero tab, under the Slides card. Upload one soundtrack for the collection page; it plays whether the hero is listing photos or your own slides. Autoplay and Loop are on that card. This is separate from a video slide’s Allow audio. See Page Audio.
The Create an AI version orb on this same Slides card works like the property hero, and every photo slide has its own orb: pick a job and the new version takes that photo's place on its slide when it is ready — no second slide — while the photo is kept with the slide (and in your Media Library). The orb on a hero slide in the live preview does the same, and the preview refreshes on its own when it finishes. A slide holding an AI version carries a badge on its row (Review video, then AI video / AI enhanced / …): click it to compare the two and Revert to original; the row's ↺ button is the one-click version, and once reverted the row shows an Original | AI switch to bring the AI version back. To animate a still, click the Siri orb on that carousel photo and choose Create video version — do not use the Transition pill (Swipe / Cross-fade) for this; that only changes how slides change. That clip plays on the site. A video ad is a reel on Marketing → Creative: scenes can stay stills or be converted to AI video, and a voiceover is optional. See Making Social Posts and Ads. If you are still on Listing photos, starting a version switches you to My own slides. Each slide has Open preview. AI versions (above Transition) lists versions while they create or wait for review — tap a row to compare or revert — and keeps AI versions that are no longer in the carousel so you can add them back.
Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Hero → Siri orb on any hero carousel photo (or Create an AI version orb → pick a photo) → choose a job; the new version takes that photo’s place on its slide — click the slide’s AI badge (or Open preview) to compare or Revert to original Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Hero → Slides card → Siri orb on any hero carousel photo (or Create an AI version orb → pick a photo) → choose a job; the new version takes that photo’s place on its slide — click the slide’s AI badge (or Open preview) to compare or Revert to original
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Create enhanced version | Brighter and more vibrant. Takes the photo’s place on its slide; the original is kept. |
| Create sharper version | Extra pixels so the hero stays crisp full-bleed. |
| Create twilight version | Classic dusk light. Takes the photo’s place on its slide; the original is kept. |
| Create wider version | Extra sky and sides so a narrow photo fills the hero. |
| Create video version | A short cinematic clip that replaces the photo on its slide; the photo is kept so you can revert. |
On collection sites these live under Home → Hero, directly below the Slides card, split into two drawers so everything about the hero is on one tab: Layout (content placement, medallion, hero frame, availability search, overlay) and Text wrap & alignment (headline width, alignment, show location / show tagline, badges). Size, weight, spacing, All caps, and hero copy live under Home → Brand → Typography → Hero text. To hide the location line on the home hero, turn off Show in hero next to Display locations on Home → Page, or Show location under Text wrap & alignment.
Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Hero → Text & style (expand) → Content placement cards Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Hero → Layout → Content placement cards Applies when: Property sites: only when the Hero layout is Full bleed (or Carousel). Billboard and Collage put the title in a band, so there is nothing to place. Collection sites: always available under Hero → Layout.
| Option | What it does | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Centered | Headline centered, full search bar overlaid near the bottom. | Symmetric photos where the middle of the image is clear (sky, water, an open lawn). Pair with the Top fade overlay. |
| Stacked | Headline grouped low, full search bar overlaid directly beneath. | Photos whose top half is the interesting part — the headline and search bar group low so the top stays clear. Pair with the Bottom fade overlay. |
| Editorial left | Headline lower-left with a full search bar overlaid beneath. | Photos with a strong right-hand subject; the headline sits lower-left with the full search bar beneath it. Pair with the Left fade overlay. |
| Minimal | Full-bleed hero photo — the booking bar docks at the bottom of the screen. | A photo-first look with a full-bleed image and the booking bar docked at the bottom of the screen. |
| Classic band | Hero photo with the full booking bar in a clean band at the base. | A framed photo with the complete booking bar in a clean band at its base. |
| Billboard | Full-bleed hero photo; title, rating and details sit in a clean band just below the image. | Keeping the photo pristine — nothing is overlaid; title, rating and details sit in a band under the image (this is the Billboard layout). |
| Medallion — Stacked | A centered crest — your emblem and a short title stacked in a frosted circle. | A boutique, crest-like brand moment: emblem + short title stacked inside a frosted circle in the middle of the hero. |
| Medallion — Arc | A centered crest — title curved along the top, subtitle along the bottom. | The same centered crest with the title curved along the top and the tagline along the bottom. |
| Medallion — Logo only | A centered crest — just your emblem in a frosted circle. | A logo-only crest — just your emblem in the disc. |
Mobile height sits under Hero frame in the same Layout drawer. It sets the hero's shape on phones only: leave it on Full for a hero that fills the screen, or pick the shape your photo or video was shot in to show all of it, with the headline in a band just below.
Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Hero → Hero layout → Mobile height pills (under Hero frame) Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Hero → Layout → Mobile height pills (under Hero frame) Applies when: Full bleed, Billboard and Carousel on property sites (Collage has its own mobile gallery, so the pills are hidden there), and every hero layout on collection sites. Phones only.
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Full | Fills the phone screen. Wide photos and videos are cropped to fit. |
| 4:5 | Tall portrait — a little shorter than the full screen. |
| 1:1 | Square — as tall as it is wide. |
| 4:3 | Landscape — the shape of most phone photos. |
| 3:2 | Landscape — the shape of most camera photos. |
| 16:9 | Widescreen — the shape of most videos. |
Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Hero → Text & style (expand) → Hero overlay cards + Overlay strength / Overlay color / Gradient length Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Hero → Layout → Hero overlay cards + Overlay strength / Overlay color / Gradient length Range: Overlay strength 0–100 (default 70). Overlay color #rrggbb (default black). Gradient length 0–100 (default 70).
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Standard | Tints the edges and leaves the middle open — length is how close the tint reaches the center. |
| Top fade | Darkens just the top, clearing downward — pairs with Centered. |
| Left fade | Darkens just the left, clearing rightward — pairs with Editorial. |
| Bottom fade | Darkens just the base, clearing upward — pairs with Stacked. |
| None | No overlay. Best for already-dark or low-contrast photos. |
The Medallion placement, hero text (eyebrow, headline, toggles, color, shadow), and hero badges work exactly as described in Hero Text Placement & Medallions and Hero Overlay, Text & Badges.
Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Brand → Layout
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Map + list | Property cards in a list beside a live map — guests browse by place. |
| Grid showcase | A photo-forward grid of property cards with no map — guests browse by look. |
| Brand story | Leads with who's hosting: starter sections you pick (founder letter, team, video story, press, social wall) if they are not already on the page; the booking grid moves to a Stays tab. The hero stays as it is. |
Open listings in a new tab. In the multi-unit site editor (Sites → Group sites → Edit multi-unit site): Layout → Home → Brand → Layout. Under the layout picker, next to Guest, bedroom & bath counts, the switch Open listings in a new tab makes every listing card, list row and map pin open that listing in a new browser tab, so guests keep your landing page open and can come back to compare. Off (the default), a listing opens in the same tab with a link back to your site. From Grow your brand → Brand, the Collection site layout card opens the same Layout settings for each collection site.
Cards per row. In the same Layout card, Cards per row sets how many listing cards sit side by side: Automatic (2 to 5 depending on screen width), or a fixed 2, 3 or 4. It applies to the listings on Home under the Grid showcase and Brand story layouts, and to every Properties section set to Grid or Cards, on Home or on a page — so a page of six cabins runs three and three instead of five and one. The control appears once your site has such a grid; a site that only shows Map + list has no row of cards to size. It is the same choice as Per row in the Home Properties section editor: change it in either place. Phones always show two per row in a Grid, and one large card at a time in Cards.
Large photo cards for each listing (Cards). To show every home as a big, tappable photo card, with its name and tagline over the photo, its town, guests, bedrooms and baths, and an Explore button into the listing, add a Property cards section: Add section → Property cards, on Home or on any page. A Properties section you already have can switch to it under Layout → Cards. It works well on a Brand story Home, where the booking grid sits on the Stays tab: a row of cards between your story sections gives guests a direct way into each home. Cards honor the same listing picker, neighborhood and collection filters, search bar switch and cards per row as a Grid section; three cards sit side by side on a laptop, two on a tablet and one on a phone. Once a guest searches dates, each card shows its stay total, and homes that are not free are dimmed with the reason.
Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home (or a tab) → Page Content → Add section → Property cards
Listings that are attached but not yet bookable still appear in your editor preview as they will on the live site — full-color photos, title, and booking card — with a small Not bookable yet label. Guests never see those listings until they pass the visibility checklist.
Pick Brand story when your brand and the people behind it are the pitch — the way boutique hospitality brands lead with their founders rather than a grid of listings. Choosing it opens a short prompt where you tick the starter sections you want; everything it writes is editable afterward:
Want a medallion lockup or a Browse button? Set those under Home → Hero → Layout. They are independent of Brand story.
A few notes on the new sections:
Switching back to Map + list or Grid showcase restores the booking grid on Home and keeps every section you created — delete the ones you don't want.
A section belongs to the page you add it to and never appears on another site by itself. It is not locked to that site, though. Every section you write yourself, founder letter included, goes into your Reuse existing library and can be added to any page of any other site on your account. That covers your multi-unit sites and your listing sites alike, so one founder letter can sit on your main site and on every listing's Home.
To add one, open Add section on the page where you want it. The picker has two tabs. New section builds a fresh one. Reuse existing, the second tab, lists every section you have built on any of your sites, with where each one sits now, a search box, and filters by site and by section type. Pick a section, then choose:
The library holds story sections, parallax photo bands, carousels, articles, team sections, founder letters, logo tickers, video stories, social walls, maps, photo galleries and forms, plus sections you removed from a page, which wait there to be added back. Forms and social walls always come over as independent copies: a form keeps its own leads, and a social wall keeps its own posts (a connected feed keeps filling the copy). The built-in blocks that show a site's own listings, guest stories, blog, FAQ, local guide, experiences, neighborhoods or collections are not in the library; add a fresh one from New section and it fills from that site. The Reuse existing tab appears once you have built at least one section.
Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home (or a tab) → Page Content → Add section → Reuse existing Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Sections → Add section → Reuse existing
To copy a listing's whole Home to your other listings at once, see Apply One Listing’s Design to Other Listings.
Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Page Content → the locked "Properties" row → pencil (section editor) or "Show on Home"
The locked Properties row on Home is the booking grid itself — not a section you add. Click the pencil to open the same section editor other story cards use: title, optional intro, and the See more properties button (label + the same solid/outline color presets as every other button). Leave the title blank to show the grid with no heading. The button opens the full listings browse; its destination stays fixed. Under Layout → Per row (also offered as Cards per row under Brand → Layout), choose how many properties sit side by side in the Grid showcase and Brand story layouts, and in any Properties section set to Grid or Cards: Automatic (2 to 5 depending on screen width), or a fixed 2, 3 or 4 — pick 3 to get a tidy 3×3 instead of a row of five and a leftover card. The grid shows whole rows before the See more button (9 cards at 3 per row, 8 at 4), and phones always show two per row. Map + list keeps its own single-column list beside the map. Show on Home hides the grid on a brand-led Home; guests still reach listings from a Stays tab.
Where a search takes your guest. When a guest fills in the booking bar and presses Search, the page always takes them to the results:
A Properties section narrowed to some of your listings is never where a search lands, because it would hide stays that match.
Parallax sections are the full-bleed photo bands in Page Content. They have their own wash over the photo — the same idea as the hero overlay, so the title stays readable. Open a Parallax section and use Presentation: Overlay strength (how dark) and Overlay color (the tint, black by default). Changing either one updates every parallax section on that page. Full bleed vs. Inset stays per section.
Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Sections (or click a site tab → Page Content) → open a Parallax section → Presentation → Overlay strength / Overlay color Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Page Content → open a Parallax section → Presentation → Overlay strength / Overlay color Applies when: Only on Parallax sections (the full-bleed photo bands). Story cards, carousels, and the hero overlay are separate. A property Home page's three built-in photo breaks are styled one by one from their own row's Edit in the Sections list instead. Range: Overlay strength 0–100 (default 50, the historical mid-wash). Overlay color #rrggbb (default black).
A Parallax section, and a Carousel section with a background photo, both put a photo behind their words or cards. Two controls decide how that photo sits on the page:
On a Parallax section both are under Presentation. On a Carousel section they are under Background, the button beside Card style, which appears once the section has a background photo. Both apply to the section you are editing.
Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Sections (or click a site tab → Page Content) → open a Parallax section → Presentation, or open a Carousel section that has a background photo → Background Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Page Content → open a Parallax section → Presentation, or open a Carousel section that has a background photo → Background Applies when: Parallax sections, and Carousel sections that have a background photo — a carousel with no background photo has no Background control. Per section. Story sections are framed with Width instead (page.story-width). A property Home page's three built-in photo breaks do not have these two controls. Range: Full bleed | Inset (default Full bleed). Space above and below: on | off (default off).
Any section with media of its own — a Story, a Parallax band, an Article, or a Video story — can show a YouTube or Vimeo video, an embedded virtual tour, or another widget in its photo's place. Open the section in Page Content, click the photo, and in the photo chooser pick Embed a video, tour, or widget, the fourth option under the three photo choices. One box takes whatever you have — a YouTube link straight from the address bar (a watch link, a youtu.be link, or a Short), a Vimeo link, or the embed code from Matterport, Kuula, CloudPano, Google Maps, or most other tools — and the line under the box says what Haven made of it before you commit.
On a story or article section the video or tour sits exactly where the photo was, at the same size. On a parallax band it becomes the whole band: it stays still (the scroll motion is off so the tour is never cropped), and the words and overlay stay on top but let clicks through, so guests can walk the tour under your title. Set the band's Height to Tall for a full-screen walkthrough. On a video story section the player fills a 16:9 frame with the caption beneath it, so nothing sits over the player's controls.
Your photo is not lost — it stays saved underneath, and Remove embed (in the same dialog) brings it straight back. Links must be https. Anything more than a single link or iframe runs in a protected frame that cannot read your site, your account, or your guests' details.
Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Sections (or click a site tab → Page Content) → open a Story, Parallax, Article or Video story section → click the photo → Embed a video, tour, or widget Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Page Content → open a Story, Parallax, Article or Video story section → click the photo → Embed a video, tour, or widget Applies when: Story, Parallax, Article and Video story sections only (the layouts with a card-level media slot). Carousel tiles, team cards and the hero take photos only. Links must be https. Custom code runs in a protected frame that cannot read the site, the account, or guest details. The AI video orb hides while an embed is shown.
On a paid plan, the site's Home can show the booking widget from another platform (Hospitable, Lodgify, Guesty, OwnerRez and others) in place of Haven's search bar. In the multi-unit site editor, open the Settings tab → Advanced → Booking widget, choose Another platform, paste the widget's embed code or link, and pick a height. Listings opened inside the site show the same widget instead of their booking bar, unless a listing has its own (set in that listing's Settings → Advanced). Choose Haven to switch back.
On a free plan the widget stays saved and you still see it working on your site while signed in (a note under the pill says only you can see it); guests see Haven's search bar until you upgrade. Bookings made in the widget are the other platform's, not Haven bookings. See Property Site Editor.
If you are a Kind Traveler partner, your site can show the same running totals Kind Traveler publishes for you — funds raised, the share donated, what it paid for — and keep them current on its own. Open any Carousel section, click Add card, choose Impact meter, and paste the link to your Kind Traveler partner page (for example kindtraveler.com/content/your-stay-gives-back). Haven reads the numbers from that page right away, so you see exactly what guests will see before it is saved.
The meter checks your Kind Traveler page once a day, so when Kind Traveler updates your numbers each month your site follows without you retyping anything. The numbers count up as guests scroll to them, and a small Reported by Kind Traveler link opens your full partner page.
To point a meter at a different page, click Change link on the tile in the editor. The link has to be a Kind Traveler partner page with an impact meter on it; Haven tells you if it can't find one there.
Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → click a tab (or Home) → Page Content → open a Carousel section → Add card → Impact meter Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Sections → open a Carousel section → Add card → Impact meter Applies when: Carousel sections. The source must be a Kind Traveler partner page (kindtraveler.com); other charity sites are not read. If Kind Traveler's page is ever unreachable, the site keeps showing the last numbers it read.
Open a Carousel section and every card carries a small bar above it. Click the left or right arrow to move that card one place, or press and hold the grip in the middle (it shows the card's place, such as "2 of 5") and drag the card to where it belongs. The new order saves on its own and is what guests see.
Dragging works across the cards you can see. To move a card further along a long row, use the arrows — the carousel follows the card as it moves.
Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → click a tab (or Home) → Page Content → open a Carousel section → bar above each card Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Sections → open a Carousel section → bar above each card Applies when: Carousel sections with two or more cards. Every card type moves the same way, the impact meter included. Social wall tiles have their own drag-to-reorder.
A Photo gallery section is the photo grid from a listing page, placed on any page of any site and filled with the photos you choose. Add one from Add section → Photo gallery, then click Add photos: pick from your listings' photos (several at once), upload new ones, or open your Haven library and use Select all on a folder row to take a whole folder. Each photo can carry a caption, which guests see when they hover and which screen readers read. Hover a photo in the editor and click the trash icon to remove it.
Two settings sit above the grid. On hover decides what a tile does under the cursor: Peek zooms and peeks at another photo from the gallery, drifting between photos on its own, the way the listing page does; Zoom only zooms and shows the caption; Still keeps tiles still. Show decides how many photos sit on the page: All photos draws every one, twelve to a grid; First few shows the number you pick (3 to 12) and a View all button opens the rest in the lightbox. Guests click any photo to open the lightbox either way.
Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → click a tab (or Home) → Page Content → Add section → Photo gallery Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Sections → Add section → Photo gallery Applies when: any page on either kind of site. A gallery holds up to 200 photos. It is a section of its own: it does not alternate photo sides with the story sections around it.
Story sections — a photo beside a block of text — sit inside the page margins by default, which leaves a generous white border around the picture. Section width steps that back: open any story section in Page Content and pick Standard, Wide, Panoramic, or Full bleed. Each step widens the section and hands the photo more of it; Full bleed runs the photo to the window edge with the text on a facing panel and no gap between them.
The width applies only to the section you are editing. The other story sections on the page keep the width they already have. Nothing about your words changes, and the photo stays on the same side (see below).
Story sections alternate the photo down the page on their own: left, right, left. To set the pattern yourself, open a Story or Map story section and use Side at the top of the editor, or expand a story row's Preview on page in the section list and use Photo side there. Pick Left or Right.
Story sections that sit directly next to each other always keep alternating, so picking a side for one flips the story sections beside it too. A story section on its own, with a Photo break, a carousel, or a site section like Properties between it and the next story, flips by itself and leaves the others alone.
Your pick is saved on that section. If you later drag two sections you set by hand next to each other, the one you set most recently decides the pattern. A section linked on more than one page keeps its own side on each page.
Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Sections (or click a site tab → Page Content) → open a Story or Map story section → Side (top of the editor) → or, in the Sections list, a story row → Preview on page → Photo side Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Page Content → open a Story or Map story section → Side (top of the editor) → or, in the Page Content list, a story row → Preview on page → Photo side Applies when: Story and Map story sections only. Photo breaks (Parallax), carousels, Meet the team, articles, forms and feature blocks have no photo side, and they separate runs of story sections. A section linked in more than one place keeps its own side on each page. Text alignment is separate (page.story-text-align); Auto alignment follows the photo side. Range: Left | Right (default: automatic alternation).
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Left | Photo on the left, words on the right. |
| Right | Photo on the right, words on the left. |
The proof chips from the hero — a live guest rating, a Hosted by chip with your host photo, a standout amenity (property sites), or a custom label with an emoji or laurel frame — can also sit inside any story section. Open the section in Page Content and use the Badges card under the photo: add up to ten, reorder them with the arrows, and choose where the row goes with Placement — Under photo keeps it on the photo's side, Under text (the default) follows the copy and button, and Across bottom centers one row beneath both columns.
A chip hides itself on the page when its data is missing — no reviews yet, no host photo, an amenity the listing no longer has — so an empty row never shows.
Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Sections (or click a site tab → Page Content) → open a Story section → Badges card under the photo Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Page Content → open a Story section → Badges card under the photo Applies when: Only on Story sections. A chip hides itself on the page when its data is missing (no reviews yet, no host photo, an amenity the listing no longer has).
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Under photo | A row beneath the photo, on its side of the card. |
| Under text | A row after the copy and button, aligned with the text. |
| Across bottom | One centered row under both the photo and the text. |
Story, letter, parallax, article, carousel, video-story, and map-story sections can take an AI version of the still in the photo slot. On the live preview the same Siri-orb used on Photos and Hero sits on that still; once you open the section, the same orb sits on the picture. Tap either and choose a job: enhanced, sharper, twilight, wider, or video. Confirm replaces the section photo in place. Photo jobs usually finish in 15–60 seconds; video usually takes 1–6 minutes. You can keep editing the section while it runs, and a job started from the live preview refreshes the preview on its own once the new version is in place.
A story or parallax section whose button opens one of your listings can follow that listing's cover photo instead of holding a photo of its own: open the section, click Change photo → Use the listing's cover photo. The section then shows the first photo (or video) of that listing's gallery and keeps tracking it, so an AI version or video you make on the listing — from Photos & Spaces or from the section's own orb, which runs the job on the listing's cover — shows on the section too. A chip on the photo reads "Follows the listing's cover photo"; picking any other photo for the section stops the following.
Once the result lands, an Original | AI switch sits next to the orb. Original puts the section's earlier photo back; the AI side brings the AI version back. Both are kept, so switching is free. If you pick a different photo for the section, the switch goes away — it only flips between the two versions of the photo the AI run used.
On a single property site the photo a section job replaced is kept in Photos & Spaces → Archived, and from the live preview a Home story section that follows its gallery Story slot updates that gallery photo instead, so the section keeps following your gallery. Collection and community sites have no Archived view, so there the replaced section photo is not kept.
The Hero panel's orb uses the same picker and likewise replaces the photo on its slide rather than adding one. The photo tiles inside a carousel and the portraits in a team section have their own Enhance button under their Change photo pill: the four photo jobs (enhanced, sharper, twilight, wider) swap the tile's photo in place and leave the same Original | AI switch; tiles stay photos, so there is no video job there (you can still upload a listing or library video into a carousel's main slot yourself).
Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Sections (or click a site tab → Page Content) → orb on a still photo in the live preview, or open the section → orb on the picture Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Page Content → orb on a still photo in the live preview, or open a section → orb on the picture Applies when: The section slot is a still photo (Story, Letter, Parallax / Photo break, Article, Carousel background, Video story, Map story). Hidden on an empty slot, on a slot that is already video, and on carousel/team sub-cards.
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Create enhanced version | Brighter and more vibrant. Replaces the section photo. |
| Create sharper version | Extra pixels so the photo stays crisp when shown large. Replaces the section photo. |
| Create twilight version | Classic dusk light. Replaces the section photo. |
| Create wider version | Extra sky and sides so a narrow photo fills a landscape frame. |
| Create video version | A short cinematic clip. Replaces the section photo. |
Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Sections (or click a site tab → Page Content) → open a Story section → Section width Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Page Content → open a Story section → Section width Applies when: Only on Story sections (photo beside text), and only the section you are editing. Parallax bands, carousels, and feature blocks are unaffected. Which side the photo sits on is a separate control (page.story-photo-side). Range: Standard | Wide | Panoramic | Full bleed (default Standard, the original card).
Every section you add from the section builder has an Align control at the top of its editor, next to Draft: Auto, Left, Center, or Right. It moves the eyebrow, title, body, and button together. Auto is each layout's own default — story copy hugs the photo when the picture sits on the right and stays left when there is no picture; Photo break (parallax), carousel, team, and feature-block headings are centered; articles and video captions read from the left. Pick an edge to override that for the section you are editing only. Width works the same way: it stays on that section.
This is how to center (or un-center) the words on a Photo break: open the section from Page Content and pick Center, Left, or Right. On a property site the three photo breaks that come with the page (the tagline break under the hero, the guest-stories break, and the location break) are not builder sections — their alignment lives on their rows in Sections; see Property Site Editor.
Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Sections (or click a site tab → Page Content) → open any section → Align (top of the editor, beside Draft) Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Page Content → open any section → Align (top of the editor, beside Draft) Applies when: Every section opened from Sections / Page Content. On Story and Map story sections this moves only the words — the photo side is its own control (page.story-photo-side). On a Carousel with a button, Auto reads left beside the button. Not the hero (hero.copy-shape) and not the property Home page's built-in photo breaks (page.photo-break-text-align). Range: Auto | Left | Center | Right (default Auto).
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Auto | The layout's own default: story copy hugs a right-hand photo, headings over photo breaks and feature blocks are centered, articles read from the left. |
| Left | Copy hangs from the left edge of the section. |
| Center | Copy is centered in the section. |
| Right | Copy hangs from the right edge of the section. |
A Story or Parallax section can show its words as a pull quote. Open the section and, at the top of the editor next to Style, set Text to Quote.
The body becomes the quote, set large in your site's title font under an opening quote mark. The title moves beneath it as the name of who said it; leave the title empty for a quote with no name. The eyebrow and the button stay where they are, and Align still moves everything together.
Where the quote sits depends on the section:
Nothing is rewritten. Set Text back to Heading and the section returns to its title and body. Draft is hidden while a section is a quote, because a quote is someone's real words.
For a row of several short quotes, add Quote cards to a Carousel section. Guest reviews have their own Guest Stories section.
Where (property site): Property editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Sections (or click a site tab → Page Content) → open a Story or Parallax section → Text (top of the editor, beside Style) → Quote Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Page Content → open a Story or Parallax section → Text (top of the editor, beside Style) → Quote Applies when: Story and Parallax sections only, and only the section you are editing. The setting carries over when the section is switched between Story and Parallax. Leave the title empty for a quote with no name under it. The quote follows Align (page.story-text-align); a Story quote with no photo is centered on Auto. Draft and the Ask AI writer are turned off while a section is a quote, because a quote is someone's real words. For a row of several short quotes, use Quote cards in a Carousel section; guest reviews have their own Guest Stories section (reviews.testimonials). Range: Heading | Quote (default Heading).
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Heading | A title with the body copy under it. |
| Quote | The body shows as a large pull quote under a quote mark, with the title beneath it as the name of who said it. |
Same controls as property sites — see Header, Logos & Intro Styles. Collections additionally have Show tabs in header under Header style: turn it off for a logo-plus-menu header.
Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Brand tab → Header style → When tabs don't fit
The header keeps your tabs clear of the logo. When a screen is too narrow for all of them, the last tabs fold away first — drag tabs in the Layout tab's page strip to decide which come first. Nothing becomes unreachable: the menu button always lists every page.
Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → hover a tab in the page strip → menu icon (list) → In the Tab name menu
Any page can sit inside another tab's menu instead of taking its own spot in the header. The parent tab gets a chevron: guests hover it (or tap the chevron) and a menu of those pages drops down; clicking the parent's name still opens the parent's own page. In the page strip the pages in a menu are indented under their parent — drag them to change their order in the menu, or drag the parent to move the whole group. Pick Its own tab to move a page back into the header.
You can do the same thing in the preview: drag a tab in the preview's header to reorder it, drop it onto another tab to put it in that tab's menu, or open a menu and drag a row out onto the bar. The page strip follows. See Arrange the header menu.
Menus go one level deep: a tab that already holds a menu cannot go inside another one, and a hidden tab or an SEO page cannot hold a menu. Each page keeps its own web address. If you hide or delete the parent tab, its pages show as normal header tabs. On phones the pages appear indented under their parent in the menu sheet, and the footer's page list keeps them right after their parent.
Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Brand tab → Header style → Stays menu in header
It is on for every multi-unit site unless you turn it off: a dropdown pill appears right after Home that lists every listing on the site by name, each opening that listing's page; clicking the pill itself jumps to the listings on Home. Menu label names it for what you rent (Cabins, Villas, Rooms); leave it blank to use your listings section title, or "Stays". The same menu shows on each listing's page when a guest reached it through your site, so the dropdown reads the same on every page. On phones the listings sit indented under the pill in the menu sheet. Multi-unit sites only.
Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Footer → Link columns
The footer doubles as your site's map. Four switches each add a column, and a column only appears when it has something to show, so they can all stay on: Show page links (Home plus your visible tabs), Show SEO pages (your SEO landing pages — the footer is their only on-site link), Show stays (each of your public listings by name, in your curated order), and Show contact info (the same rows as your Contact Information box). The Stays column is what gives every listing a link from every page of your site, which is how search engines find and rank each stay even when a visitor would only reach it through the browse view; sites with more than a dozen listings name the first twelve and end the column with an All stays link to the full list.
Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → Home → right panel → Footer → Badges → Add badge
Upload the badge or seal image the program gave you (a transparent PNG looks best), type its name — guests' screen readers read it — and paste the link to your profile on that site so guests can check it. Badges show in a row along the bottom of the footer, up to 8; drag them to change the order. The link must be a full address starting with https://. Script widgets (the copy-paste code some programs offer) are not supported — use the image version of the badge.
Where (collection site): Multi-unit site editor → Layout tab → click the tab in the page strip → right panel → Hero
Every path below starts on the Layout tab, and every one of them needs the panel's tab strip — the panel opens on Hero.
| You're trying to… | Use this |
|---|---|
| Change the site name, tagline or description | Layout → Home → Page (field: Multi-Unit Site Name) |
| Change the content of the site — the sections guests scroll through | Layout → Home → Page Content → add, reorder, or open a section |
| Add another page to the site (About, Experiences, Getting here) | Layout → + New tab — each tab has its own Basics · Hero · Page Content |
| Put pages in a dropdown menu under a header tab | Layout → hover the page in the page strip → menu icon → In the Tab name menu |
| Add a Tripadvisor, BBB, or award badge to the footer | Layout → Home → Footer → Badges → Add badge |
| Get back a page you deleted | Layout → + New tab → Recently deleted → Restore, any time in the 30 days after deleting. See Restore a Deleted Page or Tab. |
| Send a button to one of your listings' own pages (its Local guide, FAQ) | On a section or hero button, Link to → A listing, choose the listing, then pick where it lands in the second dropdown: Its main page, one of Its pages, or a spot On its main page (Booking, Photos, Local guide, Contact…). A Local guide shown inline on the listing's page is under On its main page. Any listing on your account can be picked, on a multi-unit site or a single listing's site. |
| Send a button to another of your multi-unit sites | Link to → A group, choose the site, then pick Its main page, one of Its pages, or a spot On its main page (Listings, Guest stories, Contact). |
| Make a button (or a clickable section photo) open in a new tab | Open the section → under the button's Style, turn on Open in a new tab. The same switch sits under a page's Hero button. Web addresses already open in a new tab; this extends it to your own listings and pages. Not offered for a scroll to a section, an email, a phone number, or a PDF. |
| Make the listing cards open each cabin or home in a new tab | In the multi-unit site editor (Sites → Group sites → Edit multi-unit site): Layout → Home → Brand → Layout → Open listings in a new tab. Guests keep your landing page and can come back to compare. From Grow your brand → Brand, the Collection site layout card opens the same Layout settings for each collection site. |
| Change which listings appear on the site | The Properties tab (not Page) |
| Change your web address, custom domain, or language | The Settings tab → Search & URLs / Language |
| Change the photos on the collection home page | Home → Hero → Slides (pick "My own slides" and add slides, or keep "Listing photos") |
| Reframe a slide so the title isn't over the subject | Home → Hero → Slides → hover slide → Adjust focal point |
| Reframe a section photo (story, parallax, carousel background, article, team portrait, carousel photo tile, letter portrait) | Open the section in Page Content, then click the small crosshair button in the photo's top-left corner → drag to choose what stays in view, slide to zoom, Reset to go back to centered. Saves as you release; the photo keeps the framing on every screen size. Replacing the photo resets it. |
| Make every story section match one section's layout (style, side, width, height, alignment) | Change the setting on one section; a bar appears offering Apply to all story sections on the site (Just this one keeps it local, Don't ask again hides the bar in this browser). The Apply to all button in the section editor's header does the same any time. Photos and words on the other sections are untouched. |
| Move the title / booking bar on the photo | Home → Hero → Layout → Content placement |
| Show a Browse button instead of the search bar | Home → Hero → Layout → Availability search |
| Let guests compare availability across every stay at once (or hide that button) | Home → Hero → Layout → Availability search → Show "Browse availability" |
| Add bedroom / bathroom / pet-friendly / amenity filters to the booking bar | The Settings tab → Search filters → turn on Show a filter button on the booking bar, then tick the rows (Bedrooms, Bathrooms, Pet friendly) and the amenity toggles you want. Guests get a small sliders button beside Search; stays that don't match drop to the end with a note saying why. |
| Change the eyebrow or headline over the photo | Home → Brand → Typography → Hero text |
| Put the title, eyebrow, or tagline in all caps | Home → Brand → Typography → Hero text → All caps |
